From the Provincial Minister

My dear sisters and brothers in Christ,

As the anticipation of Advent transitions to the joy of the Christmas season, the friars of our province wish you peace and all good as we celebrate the birth of our Savior. Marking 800 years since St. Francis celebrated Christmas with the first-ever Nativity crèche, we reflect on the arrival of the Child of Bethlehem.

God came among us as a child born in a manger who would go on to proclaim the Gospel of peace and love in an ancient world marked by strife, inequality, war and violence. And so, in today’s chaotic world riven by violence and war in the Holy Land and elsewhere, we pray for the promise of peace in the name of the poor and humble Child of Bethlehem.

Peace and all good,

Friar Mark Joseph Costello, OFM Cap.
Provincial Minister
