Each year at the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, between July and August, the Rosa Parks Children & Youth Program hosts a back-to-school supply drive for the children and families of our local Detroit community. It starts with an online donation drive through Facebook and Amazon and, due to our generous donors, the program receives hundreds of backpacks and school supplies to give out to our local families.

Many of the guests at the soup kitchen, especially our Conner Street location, have children that come in for meals as well. By hosting this giveaway each year, Davon Mann and the rest of the Rosa Parks staff hope to make the load just a little less heavy for working parents struggling to make ends meet when it comes time for their children to return to school.
